Job Description

(Newport News, VA 23607) Northrop Grumman Newport News Shipbuilding is looking for 1st Class Stagebuilders/Riggers. Must be a U.S. citizen (must be verified using an original or certified copy of your birth certificate or a U.S. passport) and be able to pass a drug screen, audiogram, respiratory clearance, and have absolutely no felonies on their record. Certain misdemeanors will also disqualify applicants; the misdemeanors considered to disqualify applicants include any convictions involving violent or fraudulant behavior, as well as any sexual crimes.

Qualifications

Proper use and care of chain hoists, to rig steel piping and machiniery wehre cranes are not available. Knowledge of proper wire rope lashing to rig where lifting pads are not installed.Knowledge of weight calculations, center of gravity, and how to apply rigging gear to safely rig and move loads. Experience in rigging loads from a crane hook to other rigging points inside a structure or building. Familiarity with OSHA regulations relative to shipbuilding industry.
